Slough Borough Council deployed 21 TES Small Blue cameras to monitor bus lanes and bus gates across its busy road network. Supplied through TES channel partner SABA UK, the system combines unattended ANPR capture, secure 4G evidence transfer and TES Review software.
The Challenge
Slough sits beside the busy M4 corridor between London and South Wales. Traffic passing through the town centre and surrounding industrial and business parks placed sustained pressure on local roads.
Bus lanes were introduced to protect journey times and keep public transport moving, but the council needed a dependable way to identify unauthorised vehicles without creating unnecessary cases for buses, taxis and other exempt traffic.
The solution needed to operate across multiple sites, transfer reliable evidence to the back office and account for changing exemption lists.
The TES solution
TES supplied 21 Small Blue unattended enforcement cameras through channel partner SABA UK. Each camera combines Automatic Number Plate Recognition with secure 4G connectivity, allowing evidence of potential contraventions to be sent directly to the back office.
SABA UK operates the cameras and reviews evidence on the council’s behalf using TES Review Client software. Exemption lists containing registered buses, taxis and other authorised vehicles are maintained on the TES Review Server. These registrations are checked automatically so authorised vehicles are ignored before cases reach the review team.
The Results
The system gives Slough consistent coverage across its bus lanes and bus gates while reducing the volume of irrelevant detections reaching operators.
